MHA Declares Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar, Launched After 1999 Kandhar Hijack, As Terrorist

New Delhi: The Ministry of Dwelling Affairs (MHA) on Wednesday notified AlUmar-Mujahideen founder and chief commander Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar as a terrorist.

Mushtaq was one of many launched terrorists within the 1999 Indian Airways Flight (IC-814) hijacking disaster in alternate for the hostages.

On December 31, 1999, India agreed to alternate three jailed terrorists together with Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar, for the secure return of 160 hostages on a hijacked Indian Airways aircraft in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

As per information company ANI, MHA made the announcement via a gazette notification mentioning that Mushtaq Zargar is a “risk to peace, not solely to India however the world over, together with his contacts and proximity to radical terrorist teams just like the AlQaeda and Jaish-Mohammed”.

The Ministry designated Mushtaq Zargar as a terrorist below the Illegal Actions (Prevention) Act, 1967.

The MHA, in its notification, identified that the AlUmar-Mujahideen founder had been affiliated with the ‘Jammu-Kashmir Liberation Entrance’ terror outfit and had gone to Pakistan for acquiring unlawful arms and ammunition coaching.

Mushtaq additionally goes by the alias Latram, aged 52, and is a resident of Gani Mohalla in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar. In response to the house ministry, he has been operating an incessant marketing campaign from Pakistan to gas terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar was one of many launched terrorists within the 12 months 1999, Indian Airways Flight hijacking disaster, in alternate of the hostages of Indian Airways Flight IC-814. MHA said that “Zargar is a risk to peace” and mentions that his terrorist outfit Al-Umar-Mujahideen can be listed as a terrorist organisation below the First Schedule to the Illegal Actions (Prevention) Act, 1967.

“Due to this fact, within the train of the powers conferred by clause (a) of sub-section (1) of part 35 of the Illegal Actions (Prevention) Act, 1967, the Central Authorities hereby makes the next modification within the Fourth Schedule to the Illegal Actions (Prevention) Act, 1967” MHA said.

Zagar is believed to be one of many founding fathers of militancy in Kashmir.

Notably, the MHA not too long ago declared Jaish-e-Mohammad’s Mohiuddin Aurangzeb Alamgir, a key conspirator of the 2019 terror assault on a Central Reserve Police Drive (CRPF) convoy at Pulwama; Ali Kashif Jan alias Jan Ali Kashif, the handler of Pathankot Air Drive Station Terror Assault, and Mumbai terror assault mastermind Hafiz Mohammad Saeed’s son Hafiz Talha Saeed as designated terrorists.
